I have been teaching all of this week on a Biblical Core Course. It’s a three months crash course in biblical studies. I have led the students on a whirlwind journey through the journey’s of Peter and Paul in the first century, whilst a whirlwind was going on outside the classroom! High winds and the threat of snow is over the Midlands of the UK, and I just love that cozy feeling when you are warm indoors.
Probably the part of the book of Acts that struck me the most deeply this time was the farewell talk that Paul gives to the Ephesian elders in chapter 20. Get this…
“serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials that happened to me… I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house… “
He did not shrink back. I felt tired this week, I am speaking a lot, praying with many people, often there are late nights… but when I think about Paul, what have I gone through yet?! He’s an utter challenge to not live in self-pity, but pressing in to everything each day gives us as an opportunity to do the will of God and express the will of God to people. He was full of determined love.
I hope you have a relaxing weekend… I’m hoping for one… reconnecting with Kathryn… spending time reading… being grateful to God.
